Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL) caught criticism, on Thursday, after he referred to President Obama as “son” (video below).

At a campaign event, on Sunday, Rep. Walsh said: “There’s something different on the ground, and I think it’s going to overtake us all again, think it’s going to overtake the political class. I think it’s going to respectfully pick this president up and pat him on the head and say, 'son, son, son, Mr. President, you were never ready to be president, now go home and work for somebody and find out how the real world works.'”

In response, the liberal activist group Color Of Change said in a statement: “Once again, Rep. Joe Walsh has decided to stoke racial fears about President Barack Obama in order to leverage support for his own campaign."

"His comments not only demonstrate the lack of respect for President Obama’s position, but also for the millions of American voters who elected him into office in 2008. Walsh’s attempt to discredit President Obama’s leadership succeeds only in demonstrating that he is unfit to lead.”

In response, Rep. Walsh said the “silly group” should “get a life.”

I know people consider calling someone 'boy' racist, but I didn't realize calling someone 'son' was just as bad. did they update the politically incorrect list at some point?

of course since Obama is older it is kinda silly to refer to him as son ;)

Im not sure of the racist connotations in using son but if someone can get fired for using the word Monday as a slur, then son doesnt seem like a stretch at all. Regardless, it was certainly meant to be condescending, at the very least. Unless of course Walsh has some very interesting personal information regarding President Obama's birth certificate and some seriously convoluted time travel issues.

"... if history doesn't care that our degenerate friend Fry is his own grandfather, then who are we to judge?"
